Dear José Ricardo Felipe,
I
recently had the honor of accompanying U.S. Secretary of State Rex
Tillerson on a week-long visit to Latin America and the Caribbean. At
each stop we focused on ways we could strengthen critical partnerships
to advance prosperity in our region.
This
year presents a wealth of opportunities for our countries to work
together on a wide range of issues. As Secretary Tillerson said at the beginning of this trip,
“We have a tremendous opportunity to build upon our shared history,
culture, and values to generate more opportunity, more stability, more
prosperity, and more resilient governance in South America, Central
America, North America, and the Caribbean."
I would like to share this video
of my discussion with our State Department Spokesperson Heather Nauert
about our visit to Mexico, Argentina, Peru, Colombia, and Jamaica. Feel
free to share it within your networks.
I encourage you to remain engaged as the eyes of the world turn to the Americas. I also invite you to learn more about the YLAI Fellowship program to see if it is a fit for you or someone you know. Applications for the Fellowship are open through March 4th.
Thank
you for being a member of the YLAI Network and for your continued
commitment to building a brighter future for our hemisphere.
Warm regards,
Francisco Palmieri,
Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs
